The design team NEY & Partners – OMGEVING won the design competition of the city of Antwerp for the Krugerbrug. The starting point for the design proposal is the replacement of the outdated Kruger Bridge with a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge. The new bridge connects two important bicycle routes, route F13 towards Boom and the ‘district route’. At the same time, it links the residential areas of Kiel and Hoboken, the business park Lage Weg, the nature reserve Hobokense Polder and the new eco-oriented business park Blue Gate Antwerp. The bridge and the surrounding public space are embedded in a large-scale park structure with special attention to the comfort of the various users.
