Beginning this year, the construction site for the Boekelose bridge started with the ramming of the first pile. Currently, the formwork for the first concrete abutment is built on the spot by Verhoeven Timmerfabriek. In total the curved wooden formwork covers 214 m 2, has a height of ca. 7 m and an overall width of approx. 32 m.
This bridge is an innovative integral bridge: the steel deck is a curved shell that merges with the double curved geometry of the abutment. This design requires a special expertise from both the designer (Ney & Partners) and the contractor (Dura Vermeer). The steel deck will be shipped on site in September of this year.
