Design and entire study of the glazed roofs.
Starting from historic construction research, a reconversion vision has been developed for the Osterrieth House. In this vision the existing historic structure and the precious interiors must be maintained while correlating to the present spatial function of the Meir, the most important shopping axis of the city. The reconversion will be marked by the addition of two glass domes on both courtyards.
For the design of the glazed roofs a slender structure with maximum visibility towards to existing skylights are starting points. Through extensive calculation and an integrated design approach it is also possible to refine the details. Where rococo assumes a sumptuous styling, the steel structures consist of subtle roundings and curved lines as a reference to the stylistic elements of the Osterrieth House. At the same time it is a reference to the works of Vasarely, where curved lines and patterns are used to suggest an expressive spatial effect.
