Lentloper bridge

The Lentloperbridge was commissioned by the municipality of Nijmegen and designed by Ney & Poulissens Architects & Engineers. The bridge that connects the island Veur-Lent with the shore side of the Spiegelwaal is praised by the voters for his “graceful design” and “the play of light that creates a surprising place where you are able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings”.

The professional jury nominated the project out of the 25 entries and commended it as follows: “a nice gesture on right place. The stitches are pleasant surprises that offer a whole new perspective on the underside of the bridge that stylistically is very different from the top of the bridge. The jury finds the bridge beautiful and a witnesses of audacity and innovation.

With the presentation of the Architecture Award the Nijmegen Architecture Centre wants to stimulate the visibility of architecture to a wider audience. Gradually, the results of the efforts of years of preparation of major projects as Vinex to ‘Space for the river’ in Nijmegen become clear. Architecture, landscape, heritage and nature all have a place in it at the service of the local society and users.
