Program

Complete architectural, structural and technical study.

Concept

Situated in a residential quartier of Brussels, the building has a total depth of som 17m. Nonetheless, a great amount of daylight enters the building by the interchanging interior volumes and glazed facades.

Specific features

Optimised energy consumption. Thermal transmittance coefficient K48 instead of the normal K55. Facades are almost completely glazed with super-isolating glass (k= 1,2 W/m²K). Stainless steel blinds prevent entrance of zenithal sunlight in summers months. Movable cedar shutters, adaptable both in angle & height, control the solar heating and the illumination in the office floors. The hygrothermical features of the garden roof create an absorbing surface. Heating system with high-performant gas boiler, reduced-heath floor heating allows for higher performance. The cedar shutters need no extra non-ecological finishing. Artificial lighting system with optimised performance by electronic lumbers.
