Program

Complete stability study for new building

Concept

Construction of flats, shops and 28 underground parking spaces. The structure of the building consists of concrete reinforced structural walls and prefabricated concrete slabs. The designers were appointed on basis of a competition.

Specific features

Construction in urban fabric in the immediate proximity of the metro. Above the metro part of the building cantilevers 21m over 7 floors. This cantilever is taken by the internal walls. Use of pre-stressed concrete in the roof slab in order to take the forces of the cantilever. Two structural walls in the cantilevering part carry the loading to the supports. The torsional forces that arise from the cantilever asymmetry in plan are via floor slabs and subsequently two structural walls taken by the supports. The static diagram was refined in function of the architectural requirements of the project based on truss diagrams for the walls and floor slabs. Deep foundations bored piles of large diameter.
