Entire study for a deployable shelter for the castle’s courtyard
Concept
During the summer, festivities take pace in the courtyard of the Alden Biesen courtyard. The deployable membrane covering allows these festivities to take place also during rainy periods. The new structure stands entirely independent of the castle, being a place of national heritage.
Specific features
Every umbrella measures 13 m x 13m when open. A central computer drives the opening mechanism.
