Complete structural design
Concept
Construction of an additional gastronomic wing integrating the shopping centre Auchan-Kirchberg in Luxembourg.
The object of the design was the roof structure covering the wing, as well as a 17m high chimney and two staircases.
Specific features
The roof structure is built as mixed steel and reinforced concrete, spanning 17m as an isostatic beam. The supporting columns are also built from mixed steel and reinforced concrete. The supports sit on top of an existing structure, so that the details had to be adjusted for each case. Protective foam was applied onto the structural elements to achieve the required fire protection.

Construction of two steel staircases. The staircase inside the Auchan shopping centre was subject of an optimisation process to reduce the dimensions of the supports as much as possible.
