Concept
Construction of a home for elderly and a rehabilitation center by order of the CPAS of Seraing at Jemeppe sur Meuse. This project was elected as laureate of an architecture competition. The building is an assembling of two wings which follow the form of the Meuse. On the ground floor are the rooms reserved for the employees and rehabilitation. The higher levels are mainly occupied with rooms and the highest level has a restaurant, which has a magnificent view on the Meuse. The building had to be as low profile as possible in relation to the surroundings, but has nevertheless on both sides cantilevers. They are build out of a reinforced concrete beam-wall system.
Specific features
The higher levels are situated on top of the cantilevers with a rather long span: 11m.
