Belval Research and Administration Building - 04.013

Program

Complete study of the structure

Concept

First administrative building on the Belval East site (Luxembourg). The geometry of the building is characterised by a rectangular tower of 12 repetitive storeys on a four storeys high (of which one underground) L-shape foot.

Specific features

The typical floors are made of slabs on concrete preslabs based on the central core, which also ensures the stability of the entire building, and columns in the periphery. These columns are on a grid of 1.25 m, the frame of the facade, and have slender sections. The transition from the typical floors to the basement floors, and from there, to the car park leads to a serie of structural transfers to change the frame of columns.
