Electrabel-Suez Netherlands has organized a competition for an architectural intervention of 2 (possible extension: 4) power station.
Concept
The covering fluid form of the industrial complex becomes one with its environment.
Specific features
The complex geometry consists out of 2D-porches, made of standard steel sections. Special attention was given to structural concept of the joints in order to avoid future problems. The triangulation of the skin changes in function of the local structural needs. Due to this concept we could create a fluid formal transition from the 70m high chimney into the stretched covering above the industrial hall.
