Program

Complete structural and civil engineering study, including exterior technical networks and landscaping.

Concept

New laboratory and offices building for the public health research centre. The building is split in two units : research and administration. These two parts are connected by walkways that span through a central atrium. The structure is mainly composed of reinforced concrete with a flat slab typology, while in the atrium the glazed facade is supported on a steel structure. The building has 9 floors of which two are underground.

Specific features

The project has gone through several versions before reaching the current configuration. The central staircase in the atrium and the bearing structure for the glazed facade are made of reconstituted steel profiles that have the same form of section. The walkways connecting the two parts of the building on every level have a composite deck that rests on steel I-beams.
