Hotton - 99.015

Program

Study as designer of project in collaboration with architect Ziane (50%-50%). Complete structural study.

Concept

The pedestrian bridge connects the island of Hotton with the village centre and thus enhances touristic activities at this location. The pedestrian bridge spans 26m with two L-section profiles with variable height. The pedestrian bridge is extremely slender with a height of 25cm. Typologically the bridge is a flat arc with fixed abutments. The bridge deck width is 180cm and consists of steel grills in order to appear as light and transparent as possible.

Specific features

The entire project was designed in a search for lightness and transparency. The statical choice and the design of the structural details allowed a structural slenderness of 1/100 of the span.
