Complete study for the different parts of the renovation project of the Guillaume II center in Luxemburg city.

Concept

The Guillaume II centre's renovation project include the refurbishment of the existing buildings, new building to house the wedding hall, the reception room and technical rooms and a suspended steel footbridge connecting the centre to the City Hall.

Specific features

The steel footbridge include a pair of suspension cables. The footbridge is an internal space with a glass facade. The support on the existing City Hall is as light as possible in order to limit work on the existing building. A detailed study of the bridge deflection and of the connection detail with the façade has been conducted. The building renovation include the following aspects, masonry vault calculation, existing masonry wall checks, timber and mixed existing floor conservation, new steel and concrete structural element integration, existing timber frame checks...
