Opening by José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, of the TRIO exhibition "Bridges".
This exhibition is a bridging exhibition between the Trio Presidencies of the EU: Spain, Belgium and Hungary around the theme of "bridges".
It intends to explore the theme through various angles: Spain presents a photo exhibition of Spanish bridges from Roman times until the eighteenth century. The Belgian contribution consists in an exhibition - Shaping Forces, which was presented at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels (BOZAR) in April-May 2010. It shows the first comprehensive overview of the work of engineer Laurent Ney whose structures and bridge designs get an international acclaim. From Hungary… the bridge connects. It creates a physical link between areas separated by water, a valley, road, railway or other obstacle. In a symbolic sense it is the path of the initiated from earth to heaven, from the physical world to the psychic world.
